12. Plant maintenance management

The author experience gained from the mega-projects shows that engineering of maintenance starts concurrently to the project main activities: spare part inventory, maintenance plan and operation availability and life expectancy are factors taken into account during the equipment screening and the project costs auditing. So it is natural to build the maintenance database before the project construction thus getting the burden of the database creation off the plant maintenance stuff.
